Hilda Fae Johnson

Miss Hilda Fae Johnson passed away peacefully at Yadkin Nursing Center on February 6, 2026. She was born on September 23, 1934, in East Bend, North Carolina, to John Hiram Johnson and Flora Beatrice Angell Johnson.
Hilda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 16 and joined East Bend Baptist Church. She graduated from East Bend High School in 1952. She attended Appalachian State Teachers College in 1953 and later took classes at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Hilda worked in the Inspecting Department at Hanes Hosiery for 14 years (1953–1967). She then devoted more than 30 years to private-duty patient care. A lifelong artist, Hilda enjoyed drawing, painting, and crocheting.
As an adult, Hilda was a member of Griffith Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Upon her retirement, she returned to East Bend, where she rejoined East Bend Baptist Church and remained an active member. At the time of her passing, she was the church’s oldest member.
In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her older sister, Alta Brice Johnson; her twin sister, Gilda Mae Johnson; and her sister-in-law, Rita Miller Johnson.
Hilda is survived by her sister, Mary Sue Johnson of East Bend; her brother, John Hiram Johnson Jr. of Pfafftown; her niece, Norma Gomez (Scott Tuttle), and her children, Sheila (Ezekiel) Coppersmith, Emily (Morgan) Goins, and Steven Goins; her nephew, Samuel (Heidi) Gomez, and their children, Jacob and Jocelyn; her nephew, John Hiram (Tiffany) Johnson III, and their son, Elliot; and her nephew, Charles (Brooke) Johnson, and their twins, Cullen and Bryce. Hilda is also survived by one great-great-niece, Evelyn Coppersmith.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 14, 2026 at 3pm at Huff Funeral Home with Allen Boggs and Joseph Harris officiating. Burial will follow in East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1pm-3pm at the funeral home prior to the service Saturday.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery.
