Libby Posey Carter, born on May 17, 1934, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family. She lived a life marked by strength, grace, and deep devotion to those she loved. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose wisdom and compassion guided generations. Libby had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. Her lighthearted spirit and quick wit brought joy to those around her. Her greatest joy in recent years was her great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and spoke of often. Nothing brought her more happiness than seeing their smiles and watching her family grow.
Libby was preceded in death by her daughters Sherry Hyatt Scott and Patricia Carter Logan; Ricky Hyatt; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Hyatt; and her brother, Kenneth Posey.
She is survived by her son Timmie Hyatt; her daughter, Sandra Carter Farrar (Tony); her grandchildren Rocky Hyatt (Valerie), Ashley Jessup Wetzel (Matthew), Spencer Logan (Ayla), and Katelyn Farrar; and her great-grandchildren, Maranda, Zach, Carter, Aviva, Aiden, Chloe, and Everly.
A celebration of life Libby's life will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Yadkinville on Saturday March 28, 2026 at6 2pm with Monroe Otto officiating. Though her absence is deeply felt, her love, laughter, strength, and legacy will live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. The family would like to especially thank Helping Hands, Universal Health Care, and Trellis Supportive Care for all of the loving care they provided.
